Five Amazingly Easy Ways How Businessmen Can Travel Stress-free

Airport

The only thing a holiday and a business trip have in common is the travel part of it all. And quite obviously, that is the most important task to cover.

It becomes all the more necessary when it comes to business related travels, since there's money, deadlines and a very tight schedule involved. However, a few simple tricks and a bit of smartness can go a long way in curbing the stress and help you focus on far more important things.

Here's how we do it.

1)   Pack light

This is the one thing that tops every travel guideline list, irrespective of the kind of travel involved. But executive travelers need to stick to this more than anything else.

Firstly, your stay is far shorter and involves limited activities. Secondly, you don’t have the time to unpack and pack again. Thirdly, most airlines allow only a specific amount of weight to get through without extra charge. Plus, unless you have a preset itinerary, there's a high chance you won't even use more than half the stuff you've packedfor the business trip.

2)   Secure!

One of the most important aspects of travel is the security. Secure everything, right from travel insurance for yourself to physical security for your baggage and gadgets! Have your cellphone and laptop equipped with a good anti-virus and tracking software.

Before you start your trip, create backup of all your data on a secured location, like your personal hard drive or Dropbox. And then- the most important part of safeguarding your things- pack everything in a sturdy padded and insulated bag/cover.

3)   Navigability

When we say the term "businessman-on-the move" we don't simply mean hopping from one airplane or airport to another. We mean being on the toes, literally. If this fits you too, you need to make sure that everything about you means ease of movement.

Whether you're juggling multiple projects simultaneously, or mixing business with leisure, more often than not, you'll find yourself racing against time itself. Therefore, wear comfortable shoes. Carry a bag that's more mobile. Have a lightweight laptop, or a phone that works as efficiently as a laptop. Or best, hire someone to carry it all for you!

4)   Stay connected (EVERYTIME)

Internet connectivity is an absolute necessity. Which is why, we're always stressing on having this sorted first and foremost with the corporate travel company, while making reservations. Usually, every reputed hotel offering corporate stays has a good internet connection.

In addition to that, we suggest you keep your own data card and cellphone with internet close at hand. Because, hotel and airport WIFI won't take you everywhere. And you never know, you may need to find your way in a new place to a specific location on your own or get your hands on an important mail. These things matter. A lot.

5)   Set aside a day to shake off jetlag

A jetlag if not dealt with in time, can do far more damage that you're willing to sign up for. The smartest and of course, wisest thing to do is get ample rest before heading about business. Especially for those who aren't really used to instant adjustments to shift in time-zones, taking time off BEFORE a conference or presentation is the best way to go, in order to ensure productivity when needed.

Don't do anything that will require you to use your brains more than necessary. Sleep it off. Chill out, call for room service and just breathe.

The tricks are simple, so simple that it becomes too easy to forget. But, don’t forget that there's a heavy price to pay. So, pack simple (always keep a packed suitcase ready, for all you want) and stay ready. Carpe diem!
